The Making of Santa's Sleigh

It started with this.....
{note i am NOT an artist}

Then we got some huge paper and made a pattern.....

Cutting came next........LOTS AND LOTS OF CUTTING...

We were temporarily living in a single wide trailer house at the time and...we had absolutely no level ground except for the floor of the living room.  That is where we had to trace our pattern out onto the wood...Our landlord happened to drive by and saw the front standing in the doorway she stopped in to see what the heck we were doing in the house...rest assured the saw dust was all outside.  We really missed our wood shop!

Then we sanded and puttied and sanded and routered and routered and sanded for that seemed like FOREVER.........

The the framing began.....

and more cutting and sanding and putty and sanding...

My son Jarin thought for sure if he built a spot just right in the back
 Santa would be able to fit his 4 wheeler.....
{he thinks we are the coolest parents ever}

Santa for sure had to have a royal throne for that long nights ride...

And a Dash for all his instruments...
{we wouldn't want him to loose his way}

Then of course hot rod paint job.....

and gold trim.....

Finally our wood shop back!! Hallelujah
Now for the fun!!! Decorating the inside.....

I upostured the seat and finished the detail.....

And then my pride and joy...The dash
My Husband works in Alaska during the summer months and his board wife went to every airplane shop in Anchorage to find old aircraft gages...It was lots of fun.....

and an antique gimble compass......

my husband cut red ceder wood for the inside on the saw mill....

Ready for take off....

and it goes to NPX in Flagstaff......

Ta Da!!! I'm pretty proud of this project i put a lot of time, effort, thought, and stress tears into it.
  It was a great experience for our little family.
 Our 3 kids will always remember mom and dad built Santa's sleigh.
